Tips

Tips to buying a Pre-Owned car in Nigeria.

1. Search For the Car: Either you patronise an agent to search for the car or you do it yourself I believe that's the beginning of your pursuit of happiness.
2. Inspection: This is very important. To avoid been a victim of scam it is paramount to physically inspect all the options you have at your disposal.
3. Professional Advice: It is not compulsory but its necessary to get a professional (Mechanic) to tag along on your inspection. Mechanic know how to tell when a car has been packaged for sale, leaving unsuspecting buyer lusting over the car.
4. Negotiate: upon a satisfactory inspection, its time to negotiate with the seller, try to find somethings to use to beat the price down, as long as the car your buying isn't brand new there would be one or two things to do on the car, even if its not compulsory. But don't feel too sharp, if the price is right don't push further.
5. Check the Document: Confirm if the original document are complete. If all necessary document are complete, e.g vehicle papers, road worthiness, proof of ownership, allocation of plates number, CMR, insurance and custom papers.
6. Make Payment: After going through step 1-5 and you are satisfied, next would be to make payment. Either by going to the bank to make a transfer or doing the transfer from your mobile phone. Do not accept cash, there should be a trace for the money.

After all is said and done, its either your back to square 1 or you have yourself a nice car in your garage.
Note: This are only simple tips to aid in your quest to get a car, you decide to add some other things or subtract some things depending on how it suits you.
